1. National Technology Day
Observed on: 11 May 2025
Aim: To highlight the
achievements of engineers and
scientists in the field of technology
and science.
This day marks the anniversary
of Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998
and India's technological
advancements in this space.
2. Uttar Pradesh government and World Bank launched two major initiatives on Friday:
UP AGREES (Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening)

3. The Indian government has fast-tracked approval for the electricity transmission line of the 1,000 MW
Pakal Dul hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
Pakal Dul Hydropower Project:
❖ Constructed on: River Marusudar, a tributary of Chenab in district Kishtwar of UT of J & K.
❖ Installed Capacity: 1000 MW
❖ Annual Energy Generation will be 3230 MU.
❖ Agency Name: Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, a joint venture company of NHPC Ltd and
JKSPDC.

5. Chinese researchers have developed a high-resolution ocean simulation system, named LICOMK++,
that offers enhanced capabilities for modelling ocean dynamics and climate patterns.
LICOMK++:
❖ LICOMK++ is being hailed as an ocean "microscope" owing to its ultra-high-resolution capabilities.
❖ The system enables scientists to analyze complex processes such as eddies and heat transport with
unprecedented clarity.
❖ It can significantly improve predictions for extreme weather events like typhoons, marine heatwaves,
and floods.

8. Dr. Ajay Kumar - Chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
Dr. Ajay Kumar is a retired IAS officer and former Defence Secretary.
He has been appointed as the Chairman of UPSC by the President of India.

11. World Hypertension Day

• Aim: To promote public awareness
of increasing high blood pressure
(BP) and to encourage citizens of
all countries to prevent and
control this silent killer.

12. World AIDS Vaccine Day
• Observed on: 18 May 2025
• Aim: To promote the continued
urgent need for a vaccine to
prevent HIV infection and AIDS.

13. International Museum Day
Observed on: 18 May 2025
• Aim: to raise awareness among
people about the museums.
➢ Museums are an important means
of cultural exchange and
development of mutual
understanding, cooperation and
peace among people.
• Theme : The Future of Museums in
Rapidly Changing Communities".
14. The Telangana Government recently decided to sanction 10,000 Indiramma houses to Chenchu tribal
families.
Chenchu Tribe:
❖ The Chenchus are a food-gathering tribe primarily residing in the Nallamalai forests of Andhra Pradesh.
❖ They are one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Andhra Pradesh.
❖ They are also found in Telangana, Karnataka and Odisha.
❖ Language: Their native language (also called Chenchu) belongs to the Dravidian language family. Many
also speak Telugu.
❖ A Chenchu village is known as "Penta".
