1. Death Anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri
• Observed on: 11 January 2025
• About:
➢ He was the second Prime Minister
of Independent India.
➢ He popularised the slogan 'Jai
Jawan Jai Kisan'
➢ He actively participated in India's
freedom struggle.
➢ Due to cardiac arrest, he died on
11 January, 1966.
2.National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
• Observed on: 11 January 2025
• Aim: To spread awareness
about the persistent issue of
human trafficking.
• Theme: "Connecting the Dots.
Strengthening Communities,
Preventing Trafficking."
3. Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) Scheme.
❖ It is a zero-subsidy scheme launched
in 2015.
❖ It is also known as the LED-based
Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme
(DELP) and is the world’s largest
domestic lighting project.
❖ Aim: To promote the efficient usage of
energy for all i.e., its consumption,
savings and lighting.
❖ Eligibility: Every domestic household
having a metered connection can get LED
bulbs.
UJALA’s Decade of Impact (2015–2025)
As of January 6, 2025, the UJALA scheme has achieved:
❖ Distribution of 36.87 Crore LED Bulbs nationwide.
❖ 407.92 Crore LED Bulbs Sold in the Indian market since the launch of
UJALA.
❖ Over 36 Crore Households benefitted from the UJALA initiative.
4.Henley Passport Index 2025
❖ Singapore has continued to dominate
the list of the world's strongest passports,
achieving a top rank in 2025 as well.
❖ As per its latest standing, an Indian
passport holder can travel visa-free
to 57 destinations. The country shares
its rank with Equatorial Guinea and
Niger.
❖ The EU member states of France,
Germany, Italy and Spain all drop two
places to share third position.

India 85th rank, last year rank 80th.
5. National Youth Day
Observed on: 12 January 2025
• Aim: Marks the birth anniversary of
the Swami Vivekananda.
➢ Swami Vivekananda was very vocal about
the importance of youth in the process of
nation-building.
➢ In 1984 the Government of India declared
this day as National Youth Day and since
1985 the event is celebrated in India every
year.
• Theme: “Youth for a Sustainable
Future: Shaping the Nation with
Resilience and Responsibility.”
6. Anji Khad Bridge
❖ Anji Bridge, the first cable-stayed
railway bridge in the country.
❖ It is part of the Udhampur-
Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link
(USBRL)
project(J&K). Hindustan
Construction Company (HCC) is
building the bridge.
❖ The 1,315-metre-long
bridge can withstand strong
winds of up to 266 km/h as well as
earthquakes of great intensity.
7. The Z-Morh tunnel is set to become the first major milestone in the effort to build a strategic corridor
between Kashmir and Ladakh which is open all through the year, with the Prime Minister slated to
inaugurate it.
Z-Morh Tunnel:
❖ It is a 2-lane road tunnel between Gagangir and Sonamarg on the Srinagar-Leh Highway in Jammu
and Kashmir.
❖ The name “Z-Morh” refers to the Z-shaped road section near the construction site.
❖ Length: 6.5 km
❖ No toll tax will be collected from vehicles using the tunnel.
8. QS World Future Skills Index 2025
A global ranking system that evaluates countries' readiness to meet evolving job market demands through skill development, education, and economic transformation.
Released by: London-
based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), known for its education and skills-related rankings
Aim: To assess how well countries are preparing their workforce for future skills such as digital competencies, AI, green technologies, and sustainability.
India has ranked 25th overall in the QS World Future Skills Index 2025, with a standout performance in the “Future of Work” category, where it ranked second globally, just behind the United States
9. Diego Garcia
A part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT).
❖ It is situated in the Indian Ocean, south of the equator.
It is located approximately 1,796 km south of India and 4,723 km east of Africa.
❖ It was originally inhabited by the Chagossians (Ilois), descendants of African and Indian laborers brought by French colonists.
It became a British colony in 1814 following the Napoleonic Wars.
